Cross-Cultural community discussions
As a core member of the Chicago Cultural Alliance (CCA), IAHM is an active partner in programs developed by the CCA. The programs bring together voices from diverse perspectives, cultures and immigrant experiences in an exploration of contemporary issues.
Community discussions are facilitated by trained IAHM volunteers following the Chicago Cultural Alliance’s Civic Engagement model of public analysis, interpretation, dialogue and debate.
The Talking About…Series brings together ethnic communities in Chicago to discuss contemporary issues such as immigration, ethnic identity, climate change and health care from the perspectives and experiences of community members. The programs seek to promote inter-ethnic, inter-generational understanding and explore traditional eco-friendly practices.
Learn from devotees about the diverse religious heritage of Indian Americans whose houses of worship are a growing presence on America’s changing spiritual landscape. Visit sacred spaces behind elaborate facades, beneath domes flanked by minarets, and within simple modern buildings during organized group tours with IAHM docents.
